root to rise in greece

september 23-30, 2024 – amorgos, greece

Join  Jennifer Golden, co-owner of The Yoga Center Retreat, on the enchanting island of Amorgos, nestled in the heart of the Aegean Sea. A true gem of the Greek Cyclades archipelago, Amorgos is a masterpiece of nature with unspoiled natural landscapes, shimmering azure waters, and some of the highest mountains in the Aegean.

You will spend 7 nights at the Aegialis Searock, a boutique villa designed specifically for tranquil retreat experiences. It is here, where the cliffs rise above the sea, that you will ground, connect and find stability in the earth so you can lengthen, extend and reach your fullest potential. Each morning you will be greeted by a view of the crystal clear Aegean sea. 2 yoga sessions each day will take place inside Rashmi, the geodesic dome, with its gentle and soft atmosphere that faces the sea. Savor the tastes of the island with 3 meals each day, sourced from local producers and made fresh daily by the onsite chef. Spend your free time lounging by the saltwater pool with a view of Nikouria island. The Paralía Egiáli (Egiali beach), with turquoise waters and golden sand, is a 1 mile walk away and conveniently located near coffee shops and restaurants. Several excursions are available at additional cost and include an herbal garden tour, a guided bus tour, wine tasting and cooking class.

You will fly into Athens International Airport (airport code ATH). From there you can fly into Santorini (airport code JTR) or another island on Aegean Air: https://en.aegeanair.com/

  • Plan on departing the US on 9/21, arriving in Greece on 9/22 and spending 1 night in a hotel before catching the ferry to Amorgos on 9/23.
  • On 9/30, you can take the ferry to Santorini and catch a flight that evening, or spend 1 night there. You can also stay in Amorgos for 1 night and take the ferry back Santorini or Athens, departing Greece on 10/1 or 10/2.

Your ferry must arrive and depart from the Katapola (AMO) port. It is highly recommended that you book a high-speed ferry here: https://www.seajets.com/

  • From Santorini (JTR): Sea Jet will take 1-3 hours to reach Amorgos. Approximate cost $80 one way (per person)
  • From Naxos (JNX): Sea Jet will take 2-3 hours to reach Amorgos. Approximate cost $60 one way (per person)
  • From Athens (ATH): Depart from the port of Piraeus. Sea Jet will take 4-5 hours to reach Amorgos and approximate cost is $90 one way (per person). A standard Blue Star ferry is also available, and takes 8 hours.
