Celia McCoy

C-IAYT, E-RYT 500, YACEP | VINIYOGA, Gentle, Chanting

Celia began practicing yoga in 2008 and was encouraged to pursue teacher training by her first teacher. She completed both her 230 and 300 hour trainings in 2011 and 2016 through the former Yoga Center of Minneapolis. Being called to serve on a deeper level, Celia became an IAYT certified Yoga Therapist in 2021 after completing a four year, 1,000 hour Yoga Therapy training through Yoga Well Institute.

Celia practices and teaches in the lineage of Viniyoga and is mentored by her personal teacher Chase Bossart. Chase was a long-time personal student of Mr. TKV Desikachar, who is the son of the so-called Father of Modern Yoga, T. Krishnamacharya. Celia feels privileged and blessed to receive – and then pass on – the teachings of yoga as handed down directly from teacher to student within the lineage.

In addition to teaching group classes, she is a member of the Yoga Center Retreat’s yoga teacher training faculty and works with established teachers as a mentor. Celia sees clients one-on-one for personalized Yoga Therapy, which is the process of using the tools of yoga to relieve suffering and find balance in their system. Celia works with a range of conditions including anxiety, depression, insomnia, acute injury and chronic pain, as well as neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis and traumatic brain injury.
